In this study we hope to get a sense for the personality of St. Paul. This is a lighter natured study intended to give us a feel for Paul as a person. Bring a Bible if you can. For your convenience, you can find the epistle at RSV Philemon.
Before the study, try to read the epistle to Philemon with an eye for Paul's method of persuasion. The point of his epistle to Philemon is concerned with a runaway slave named Onesimus. Onesimus had left Philemon and encountered Paul at some point and converted to become a Christian. Paul is writing to Philemon to request that he be allowed to keep Onesimus with him.
The primary thing we will look at in this letter is what it reveals about the character and personality of Paul. But also think about what is implies about the character of Onesimus and Philemon.
